HISTORY

The very first SweeneyTie was created many years ago by Caoilfhionn (key-lyn) Sweeney, the twelve-year-old daughter of a devoted bowtie wearer, because she needed a perfect Christmas present for her father. That first tie may not have been made with the straightest seams, but her father got so many compliments that he asked her to make three more for his birthday.

Many years, and birthdays and Christmases later, her seams perfect and her eye for unusual fabrics honed, Caoilfhionn noticed that bowties available in stores were, more often than not, machine made in single colors and dull patterns. Taking her cue from the eclectic tastes of her favorite customer, she got to work creating a limited edition line of bowties for smart and fashionable men, the individualists with confidence and flair. SweeneyTies is the result: flamboyant, stylish, and totally unique.

DESIGN

SweeneyTies was established to offer quality handmade bowties, bowties with texture, bowties in brighter colors, larger patterns, and non-traditional fabrics like cotton batik and brushed micro fiber. The fabric for these ties is carefully chosen and often only available in small quantities. So, most of the ties are made are limited editions. After nearly thirty years of experimenting with fabrics, textures and patterns, SweeneyTies has found which fabrics make the best looking bowties.

QUALITY & FIT

All SweeneyTies are individually handmade in the United States in small batches and can be sent pre-tied. Four small buttons at the back make sizing easy and elegant, and allow for them to be kept in their bow (great for those on the run) or to be undone on the dance floor. SweeneyTies also makes a larger bowtie for bigger men, a size for boys and designs special bowties for school groups (bands, choirs, glee clubs) and for special occasions like family reunions and weddings.

"BLACK TIE OPTIONAL"

When a member of the Sweeney clan gets married the invitation usually includes "Black Tie Optional." Black is definitely discouraged. There are many ways to brighten and personalize your wedding, but insisting on "black tie" should not be one of them. Let SweeneyTies enhance your special day with custom-made bowties for your groomsmen, family or wedding party. You can pick out colors yourself and we can select fabric to match, you can send fabric for us to create your ties with or you can pick one of our existing patterns and we will work out a group rate.

It is our policy to not sell or distribute any customer information under any circumstances. This includes our mailing list as well as your email information.

WHAT FORMS OF PAYMENT ARE ACCEPTED?

Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, JCB, Diner's Club and EnRoute. Check cards or debit cards with either a Visa or MasterCard logo are supported and treated just like a credit card.

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?

If for any reason you are not happy with your purchase, you may return your bowtie(s) within 14 days from date of receipt provided it has not been used and is in the same condition as it was delivered. We will issue a complete refund (less shipping costs), to the same credit card on which it was purchased. Please email returns@SweeneyTies.com with any return inquiries.

WHAT IS YOUR SHIPPING POLICY?

Orders placed by 12 Noon EST Monday through Friday (excluding holidays) will ship within 3-4 business days. They are sent via USPS Priority Mail. Shipping charges and delivery time will depend on quantities ordered and on your location.

WHAT HAPPENS IF AN ITEM IS OUT OF STOCK?

If your selected bowtie is out of stock, we will contact you promptly via e-mail to advise whether this order can be filled and, if so, the expected delivery date. If this is not satisfactory, we will give you a full refund.

DO I PAY SALES TAXES ON PURCHASES?

California residents will have sales tax automatically added to their order. If you live outside California, SweeneyTies does not collect sales tax and you are expected to comply with your state's current laws regarding purchases over the Internet.
